As our car drove away, all I could do was look out the back window and wave goodbye to all I was leaving behind. Nothing would ever be the same. I had packed nearly nothing, Lenny said it would be easier to forget that way. But how could I forget?! My entire life was there, even if I was locked up in a dark house because "they" thought it would be safer for me.I turned and looked out of the left window, watching the trees swoosh by and being engulfed in the darkness of night. When I awoke for the second time we were back on the road. "It's about time you got up, Athia," it was the first time Lenny had said something on the entire car ride.
"How long was I out?" I knew the answer, but it's better than that awkward silence that a lot of people get on long car rides.
"Over five hours," it was now around one in the morning, and he had bags under his eyes.
